............................................................................

Lauren Carbone

Born in La Jolla, CA, multimedia artist Lauren Carbone has been a competitive figure skater, a sorority sister, an Art instructor, an NFL cheerleader, a wood shop technician, and a personal assistant to the director of Trade at the New York Mercantile Exchange. It is this eclectic background that draws Carbone to personal narratives, universal experiences, and the art of storytelling. She earned her M.F.A. in Sculpture and New Media at Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia, and also studied at the Rome campus. She holds a B.A. in Art Studio from the University of California, Davis. Recent group exhibitions include Juried Show at Collision Machine, Brooklyn NY. Recent solo exhibitions include Workin' it Out, The Laundromat, Brooklyn NY, Jillian Baba, Jillian Baba Gallery, Brooklyn, NY and Success, The Barber Shop Gallery, Philadelphia, PA. Carbone lives and works from Envirolution headquarters in Reno, NV and the Lower East Side. She dreams of one day designing and producing her own lingerie line from recycled clothing.

Fritz Donnelly

Fritz Donnelly is a "film guerilla auteur" (Black Book Magazine). His films expound "Financial Advice" and squirm through "Awkward Social Situations." He started on public access with a weekly "To the Hills" show. He sold 3,000 DVDs of his first compilation of shorts on the streets of New York. He has been featured on cable TV, shown in the New Museum of Contemporary Art, at Anthology Film Archives, and text-messaged into outdoor cinemas. With Christina Ewald he runs hichristina.com a space for self-expression. His films about hustlers, dreamers, and people like you and me are at tothehills.com. Fritz also speaks Mandarin Chinese.

Miss Alyssa Taylor Wendt

A.T. Wendt was born to latent beatniks in 1969 in New York City and saw spirits in her childhood. She has been putting her will into the world ever since and has performed on record, in films, on stages and as art. After nomadic formative years in Phoenix and San Francisco and New York, Miss Wendt has returned to the fold to earn her MFA from Bard College. Currently residing and working in Brooklyn, she concocts installations and multimedia pieces that speak about convergent energies using film, large format staged photography, sculpture, videos and performances. She enjoys fraternal memorabilia, tap dancing, bees and believers.

Lindsay Benedict

Working in film, sound, performance, sewn text and photographic essay, Lindsay Benedict collects the unheard, silenced voice. Her work, often emotionally raw, resists a traditional narrative and sometimes is presented as a fragment or gesture. She spent the last 7 years in Oakland before moving to New York to attend the Whitney Independent Studio program. Her films have screened at New Langton Arts and the Pacific Film Archive in the Bay Area. She got her MFA degree from UC Berkeley in 2007. Here now a year, Lindsay lives in Bushwick.

Ann Oren

Ann Oren is a filmmaker and video installation artist. Born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, she received her BFA in film and her MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts In New York. Film festivals include: "Festival du Cinema de Paris", Paris, France, "The New York independent international film & video festival" New York, "The Pink Cow" Tokyo, Japan, "Chashama Film Festival" New York. Exhibitions include "Freewaves" The Hammer Museum, LA, "View From Here" PS122 Gallery, New York and "Come out & play" APEXART, New York. Oren is a grant recipient from The Visual Arts Fund, The School of Visual Arts, The Jerome Foundation and the National Board of Reviews New York. Oren is currently developing several video installations for a play "IN SECURITY", to be presented at 3LD in New York City during April/May of 2009. Please visit www.annoren.com

This is a monthly residency at The Kingdom so therefore I've set no specific deadlines at the moment. However, I encourage you to submit your work as early as possible so it may be incorporated into the appropriate show.

Please mail all submissions to:

THANK YOU!

Just want to give a huge THANKS to everyone that attended the first ever Anti-Oxidant video salon at Northeast Kingdom. It was a fantastic turnout and I had a blast. Also a HUGE HUGE THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of the artists that submitted their work. I've received nothing but positive feedback regarding the show and am eagerly anticipating the next salon in September.

Remember this is a monthly residency. Shows are always free and everyone is welcome to attend. One suggestion is to arrive early, have a fantastic dinner, maybe get a drink before heading downstairs, then relax and enjoy the show. I'm always up feedback; so if you have ideas, comments, want to be added to the mailing list, or would like to get involved-shoot me an email.

Artists Selected!!!!

Anti-Oxidant Video Salon will exhibit for one night only, a fresh mix of video works from local artists Blair Dowd, Drew and the Medicinal Pen, Ianthe Jackson, Christina Medina, Helena Petersen, Lauren Silberman, Alexa Hoyer, Kevin Vale, and Unisex Youth Helmet.

The pace of our city may appear fast and chaotic to some; however, if we take a moment to absorb it, analyze it, and find our place in it, something magical occurs. We begin to see the music that surrounds our world and the movement that is toe tapping it's way into our life's breath. It is here that we begin to find our place in this vast metropolis we call home. Each video artist adds their own definition of this rhythm to a broad collective while their individual styles appear in a harmonious contrast. The artists' individual expressions range from surrealistic dreamworlds to full on music video, while each piece shares the conceptual undertones of movement through music is its most broad sense.

Anti-Oxidant is a video salon hosted and curated by local video artist, Christina Medina; held monthly in the Lounge at Northeast Kingdom located in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Anti-Oxidant was created with artistic freedom of expression in mind without the pressure of creating something 'sellable'. Upon arriving in New York a year ago, Christina felt a need to question the the boundaries of visual art, music, and performance. Anti-Oxidant was born out of a rebellion to the commercial art world that prevails in much of the city. This is not a negative jab at the commercial art world, for as artists we would love to get paid to make art and give up the day/night jobs; with the mainstream so must exist a thriving experimental colorful world free to express itself.
